Good stuff, Brad… very creative use of Camtwist and ProPresenter.

03.08.10

it only played until about 3 minutes and then stopped.

03.08.10

Seems to be working fine on my end

03.08.10

Great episode! I'd love to see how people end up using Camtwist.

03.08.10

Great Job!!! Thanks for what your doing man!

I like this idea, as we have people asking us all the time what is playing. The next question is how to get it to pick up the iTunes playing from another computer as our sound tech plays the music and our computer people are dealing with the ProPresenter and projection screen, so it happens on two different computers. Any ideas?

03.08.10

What I would do is have all the music on your presentation machine, then have you sounds guys open there iTunes and cue the media machines sounds via iTunes library sharing. This way your media person does not have to worry about cueing songs, but it will still be running from there machine. It would take a lot of coding and work to figure out how to see what is playing on another persons machine on the network, so this is your best shot.

I realize that ProPresenter3 does not have a props layer… but could I still use CamTwist to show what is playing even if it has to fill the entire screen?

03.08.10

Yes you can, and you could even use camtwist to set up a image loop, and the iTunes art to look like it is coming from ProPresenter. You will want camtwist 2 tho. camtwist one, only supports 320×240 resolution, which is really back for use fullscreen. But you could make a custom res of, 800 x 600 or 1280 x 720 and it will look great getting feed thru ProPresenter.

03.08.10

Awesome, thanks! One more thing… I went to worshipvj's vimeo page… but I'm not sure how to download the loops he has posted. I'm sure it's just a lack of my familiarity with vimeo. I noticed someone else had posted the same question on his page.

03.08.10

you will need a vimeo account, then on the right hand side under"about this video" you will see a link to download the video. Not all video's can be downloaded, and vimeo limits the amount of downloads for free members.

03.08.10

Mine only played for 5 seconds and then stopped…

03.08.10

Make sure that if you have slow internet connection that you let it buffer. Works fine on itunes too if you would like to play it that way.

03.08.10

hey brad… have you got a mac pro under the desk or something… just looked weird not seeing and macbook or imac on your desk like your previous mac based software reviews…

03.08.10

yea the macbook pro was underneath, i like the consistency of the same monitor/keyboard. Not to mention the silver macbook is a pain to key out because it reflects so much green.

03.08.10

what browser are you using?

03.08.10

Wow, commenting extravaganza. Vimeo is great and all, but it's full screen/HD support has always been a little questionable. Some users have no problems at all, while others seem to have a terrible time with it. Perhaps an HTML 5 Player, with flash fall back would be better suited?

Did you ever consider using Blip.tv to cross post, and include Vimeo as one of the destinations? Getting the best of both worlds, not to mention reduced bandwidth requirements here on the site.

03.08.10

Html 5 is not the answer, limited support and a host of copyright issues i will stay way till it has wider adoption.

I havn't heard about issues with vimeo, can you point some out for me. Also why blip.tv? their player seems crappy and there stats are no good compared to vimeo. Also i want the video player to show up in the rss feed. not sure that blip's embed code allows that.

03.08.10

Sorry to hijack the comments here but I am trying to find that video: The fabulous life of Jesus of Nazareth. I can remember which episode I saw it in. Does anyone?

03.08.10

it's found in this episode: http://churchmediadesign.tv/announcement-slides-p

Don't forget to try our search field it's does a great job of finding this kind of stuff! Email me brad@churchmediadesign.tv if you are interested in more of these videos… i can't really give them all away on the site because of copyright issues.

03.08.10

Thanks for the reply. I actually found them on the vinmark productions site. I will email you.

It's difficult to point out direct you to specific examples as it seems to have a bit more to do with hardware configurations. Perhaps this has been merely coincidence in my experience with their HD playback. In my experience I've always found JW Player to be more compatible with other systems of various configurations. I do agree the analytics on blip.tv have fallen behind the new suite from Vimeo, however I think they'll respond with an equivalent platform.

As for the blip player, it's not the most aesthetically pleasing however in the case of longer content, such as the CMD podcasts, users can skip ahead via their pseudo http streaming, rather than waiting for progressive download to catch up with the content you want to view.

I'd be more than happy to embed a player in the rss if you'd like. You could do Vimeo, JW, or Blip.TV for RSS as far as I can tell, with a little custom php love, anything is possible.

I guess I'm just a blip.tv junkie, but I hate to see their platform dismissed, as the provide so many beneficial features for episode content producers. Either platform is suitable, however pseudo streaming seems like an overwhelming benefit.

Regarding HTML 5, using it as a primary and falling back to Flash isn't really a new idea. What copyright concerns do you have with it?

Thanks for everything you do with CMDTV.

BTW, did you have any thoughts on the Vimeo thumbnail grabber? Noticed it seems to have sat dormant since Jan 11, any changes?

03.08.10

I've made a few scripture reading elements for our church, check them out at http://vimeo.com/colinharman and let me know what you think! I love what you guys are doing.

Awesome Job, i stumbled on to this site after going to churchtechtalk.com and I have to say this is a great resource for church designers and media techs, I just used this video to add iTunes Art to our welcome slides and i see what your saying about text not showing up on the prop. this is actually a serious bug that RV is working on regarding props, basically any text used with a webcam prop or any message trying to run along side a webcam prop will show for about 2 seconds and disappear. I found a workaround for this, you can create the prop as a regular slide, and save it as a template, then add any graphics you want to the slide as a background. And since it is not a prop you can use any messages you want with it (such as a countdown, or Parent call, etc.) without a problem. It will have the same functionality, the only disadvantage is that you can't add it on the fly to any slide. hopefully RV addresses this problem soon. Thanks for the great tip! this is going to be awesome for our youth.
