Introducing Our Newest Contributor Timmy Allen

Hello wonderful readers of CMD. My name is Timmy. I’ll try and keep this kind of short. Though I should be honest here and say that this is my second draft of my “introduction” post here on CMD.

Timmy AllenThe humor of it is that it started with me talking about how my humility restrains me from being able to talk about myself, then I went on about six paragraphs about me. After rereading it I thought, “This is stupid. If anyone wants to know more about me, they can ask.” So there you go, I’m an open book. Any question, comment or concern you may have please feel free to get in touch with me and let’s get chatting.

A Little About Timmy

So instead of six paragraphs I’ll try and tell you a little about myself in a paragraph or two. I am a man obsessed with process. I am fascinated with how some random thought or idea about a product or service makes it from idea to deliverable. I think the main reason why I’m this way would be because I still have yet to figure out my process. I’ll be the first to say that my process leaves something to be desired, and I believe that the project lives and dies on process. Especially if the team is is larger than one person. So I really hope to share some direction and inspiration that helps me figure out how to better my process on my solo projects and with my team while helping you guys and gals out along the way. Hopefully…

My “professional” title would be “Creative Director / Motionographer”. I’ve been doing broadcast motion design for about 5 years now, and have brought a lot of focus to compositing and shooting these past 3 years. My weapons of choice are Cinema4D and anything in the Adobe Suite. Like many if you I was a huge fan of Final Cut, but moved to Premiere when X came around. I’ve held positions at a number of studios, and have been freelancing the entire length of my career so far. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best creatives around and help start big ideas and community.

CMD has been a great resource for my growth and creativity over the years. Especially now that I work at an on-house studio at Christ Fellowship Church I’ve found a ton of help, direction, and inspiration here. It was one of those things that even before I started working at a “giga-church” I would have found so much here at CMD. So I hope to bring that kind of content to the pages of CMD in the future. I really hope to be a great resource for you guys if and when you need anything. If there is ever anything that you would like to hear about please get in touch with me anyway you can and let’s start talking. I’d love to continue to help build this open culture and community we’ve got going on.

Below is some contact information for myself to say hi, or whatever. You can also leave anything here in the comments and I’ll be sure to respond as best as I can. I can’t thank you guys enough for giving me the privilege to share. I really look forward to many more conversations to come. This is super exciting for me. I’ve missed you all. Please. Lets talk.
