I just got my Media Design Master of Fine Arts through Full Sail University online. I loved the program. This is an advanced degree, so you need to have a solid foundation of design principles and know how to use your tools properly before getting into this program.

I can't speak to the quality of their undergrad program, but based upon my experience with the masters program, I would assume that it's excellent. Their online learning platform is exceptional, and makes Full Sail a great option for those who can't attend a traditional college.

I am also a Full Sail grad, but in Recording Arts. And now I do graphics and media for a church…I agree with you that FS is an awesome school, but is really lacking in teaching creativity. Love the show, very helpful for what I do. See you @ Create!

Hey Brad, I am really interested in your view on learning more about design theory. Do you have any books or resources that you would recommend? Thanks!

Brad I couldn't agree more with you on the importance of art & design vs. technology. I just finished up a fine arts program with a degree in graphic design and my experience in classes like 2-Dimensional Design, Color Theory and Figure Drawing have helped me immensely in my design. Schools like Full Sail are all about the how of graphic design, while fine art schools focus more on why. Some of the best designers in history had no computers to work with. They had a solid foundation in art.

A few more good schools to check out:
MICA
VCU
Columbus College of Art and Design
SCAD
UMBC
SAIC

Totally with you about FullSail. I'm in the exact same boat as Corey.

I'm currently a Digital Media Communications major at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA. This program is very much like what Brad is talking about in terms of not just talking about the tools but about the concepts and theories of creating media. It is a Christian college which also helps in growing closer and closer to Jesus and has greatly impacted me and my walk and understanding of how to use media and create media that points people to the Gospel.
